**If you mainly vibe code websites or business apps with a cloud AI tool, you probably do not need an RTX laptop.** Cursor routes AI requests through its servers, and Replit can build apps in a browser. Your laptop’s GPU does not perform the model’s computation in those workflows. [Cursor data use, accessed 2026-10-13](https://cursor.com/data-use); [Replit introduction, accessed 2026-10-13](https://docs.replit.com/power-ups/replitai/replitai-chat).

An RTX laptop becomes useful when you run the demanding part **on your own machine**:

- **Local AI models.** An RTX GPU can speed up a model you run through Ollama. GPU memory matters more than the RTX name: one 7-billion-parameter coding model has a 4.7 GB file, and the working context needs additional memory. - **Games or graphics-heavy apps you build.** Unreal Engine recommends 8 GB of graphics memory. Google lists a GPU with 4 GB of graphics memory as the minimum for Android Studio with its emulator on Windows. [Epic requirements, accessed 2026-10-13](https://dev.epicgames.com/documentation/en-us/unreal-engine/hardware-and-software-specifications-for-unreal-engine); [Android Studio requirements, accessed 2026-10-13](https://developer.android.com/studio/install.html).
- **Gaming or heavy video work for personal use.** These are established uses for a separate GPU, which also uses more power than integrated graphics. For cloud based vibe coding, I would prioritize a comfortable screen and keyboard, battery life, and enough system memory for the apps you test. **16 GB RAM is my practical starting point, not a vendor minimum.** Consider 32 GB if you expect to run emulators or several local services.
