Maruto Mizutani (株式会社マルト水谷), the company behind 010m.co.jp, is a regional food and beverage wholesaler serving restaurants in Aichi, Gifu, and Mie. Its main strength is the combination of frequent delivery, close restaurant relationships, and practical operating support. Its services extend into menu development, marketing, opening support, and software through the wider group. 010m.co.jp
The most useful findings are two documented constraints: a warehouse approaching capacity in its investment plan, and difficulty turning restaurant operating data into explanations and repeatable management decisions. Both are already the subject of development projects. seichotoushi-hojo.jp
Research checked on 17 October 2026. Below, I distinguish disclosed facts, customer testimony, and my interpretation.
The official operating territory is Aichi, Gifu, and Mie, with headquarters in Kasugai, Aichi. The company’s opening-support page explicitly identifies izakaya, restaurants, cafés, and set-meal restaurants among its customers. 010m.co.jp
| Customer segment | Evidence of serving it | Why the offering fits |
|---|---|---|
| Independent restaurants, izakaya, cafés, and diners | These formats are explicitly listed in its service description. | Owners can consolidate purchasing and access practical support without creating specialist internal teams. 010m.co.jp |
| Small urban restaurants with limited storage | The owner of 鮨と酒 悠久, a sushi restaurant business, identifies insufficient inventory space as a major problem and values daily replenishment. | Frequent deliveries reduce the amount that must be stored on the premises. 010m.co.jp |
| Local restaurant groups with multiple locations | Its customer TAPETUM, which operates pigment and other restaurants, had five Nagoya locations in the published interview. | A common supplier relationship can simplify purchasing and support additional openings. 010m.co.jp |
| Owners preparing to open a restaurant or enter the Tokai market | The company provides concept, location, financing-plan, menu, and opening support. | Its involvement can begin before the restaurant starts buying regularly. 010m.co.jp |
| Larger venues and their hospitality operations | IG Arena confirms an official supplier agreement covering alcoholic drinks and some soft drinks and food for its restaurants, lounge, and suites. | This establishes experience with venue supply alongside its smaller restaurant customers. ig-arena.jp |
My interpretation: its clearest customer fit is a restaurant operator who needs reliable replenishment and help with everyday execution. The published evidence demonstrates service to independents and local groups, but does not disclose their respective shares of revenue.
| Indicator | Publicly stated figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Annual sales | ¥27.7545 billion in FY2024 | The company page does not explicitly identify the consolidation basis. |
| Previous-year sales | ¥26.3088 billion in FY2023 | FY2024 was approximately 5.5% higher, calculated from the disclosed figures. |
| Employees | 684 as of March 2025 | Explicitly includes group companies. |
| Restaurant relationships/data | Approximately 8,000 restaurants | Described as trading experience and transaction data, rather than a precisely dated active-account census. |
| Product range | More than 14,000 items | Product items, not customers. |
The financial and employee figures come from its corporate profile; the restaurant-data and assortment figures come from its service materials. 010m.co.jp
The group also has adjacent businesses. Insightlead sells systems and implementation support to foodservice suppliers, while the group’s Maruko Hall wine shop serves a retail audience. These activities broaden the group’s customer base beyond restaurant wholesale, but should be distinguished from Maruto’s frontline distribution business. DX・業務効率化をサポートする専門企業
Maruto advertises 365-day delivery, with orders received by 5 a.m. eligible for delivery that day within its service arrangements. It also offers practical receiving support, including empty-bottle collection, delivery using entrusted keys, and placing goods into refrigerators or freezers. 010m.co.jp
The customer value is concrete:
The pigment/TAPETUM interview provides direct customer support for this mechanism. Its owner identifies avoiding menu stockouts and reducing storage requirements as the two major benefits. He also discusses using freed space for seating. These are the owner’s reported benefits, rather than an independently measured savings study. 010m.co.jp
Business significance: Maruto becomes part of the restaurant’s daily operating routine. Replacing that relationship involves evaluating service reliability, receiving arrangements, and staff familiarity as well as product prices.
Its delivery staff also serve as sales representatives. The company describes them as familiar with each restaurant’s circumstances, staff, requests, and operational problems. It combines this field contact with a substantial base of restaurant transaction data. 010m.co.jp
That matters when selling services requiring knowledge of the restaurant.
For example, Re:Nitro, a dining bar in Minokamo, selected Maruto’s Google Maps marketing support partly because the supplier already knew the restaurant. The owner preferred working with familiar people who understood the establishment. Existing menu-production materials also provided a starting point for improving its online presentation. 010m.co.jp
My interpretation: this existing relationship can reduce the explanation and trust-building needed to introduce another service. A new marketing agency or software vendor would often have to acquire that understanding first. The public sources do not quantify the resulting sales or retention advantage.
Its 速達生, or Sokutatsu Nama, service is built around delivery within two days of brewery dispatch, combined with restaurant-side quality management. The company describes shipment-date labels, demand forecasting, inventory management, handling guidance, and training in cleaning and pouring. 010m.co.jp
There are material qualifications to the delivery promise: certain manufacturers’ products requiring three days or longer are excluded, and brewery holidays do not count toward the two-day calculation. The clock concerns brewery dispatch, not necessarily the brewing date. 010m.co.jp
The strength is the completeness of the service. It addresses the sequence from stock rotation to the drink served to the guest. This creates more opportunities to improve consistency than supplying a keg alone.
Maruto’s MY products are developed by its buyers with producers and manufacturers. The stated formats include individual portions, preprocessed ingredients, and precooked products intended to reduce preparation work and waste. 010m.co.jp
This is commercially relevant because the purchase price of an ingredient does not describe its full effect on a restaurant. Preparation time, usable yield, leftovers, equipment requirements, and the skill needed to serve it also matter.
Its FOODNAVI 2026 material shows specific merchandising work: Japanese and Asian combinations, texture-focused dishes, regional Nagoya dishes, and ingredients positioned around craftsmanship. Examples include coconut-braised pork and shrimp tempura with mango-chilli mayonnaise. These are documented proposals, not evidence that every proposed dish sells successfully. マルト水谷 バイヤーセレクション
My interpretation: Maruto can help translate a supplier’s ingredient into a dish that restaurant staff can understand, prepare, price, and promote. That is a useful capability for manufacturers seeking repeat orders.
Some of the capabilities available to customers sit in separate group companies:
| Group company | Relevant capability |
|---|---|
| Insightlead | Wholesale management systems, online ordering, restaurant point-of-sale systems, implementation support, and artificial intelligence (AI) development |
| Sunrise Pro | Restaurant accounting and management support, including cooperation with tax-accounting firms |
| Tousei Foods | Chinese noodles, dim sum, and private-label product development |
| Hazama Shuzo | Sake manufacturing |
| M&M Solutions | Logistics contracting |
These roles are described in the group and company profiles. 010m.co.jp
There is also evidence of actual software deployment. Insightlead reports Mach-GROA installations at 10 companies as of March 2025, and its history records earlier operational systems and the development of neural-network forecasting logic for fresh-beer supply. DX・業務効率化をサポートする専門企業
Implication for an outside supplier: a credible proposal needs to establish a specific advantage over, or useful addition to, these existing capabilities.
A company project outline published on the government subsidy programme’s website states that the existing warehouse was approaching capacity and that there were restrictions on installing additional productivity equipment. This is direct disclosure of an operational constraint. seichotoushi-hojo.jp
The response is a new logistics-centre project in Tokai City. Maruto’s 5 November 2025 announcement describes ¥4.513 billion in combined planned investment by Maruto and MMG Holdings, covering the building, material-handling equipment, and inventory/sales systems. It reports a grant decision dated 6 October 2025. 010m.co.jp
Assessment: growth requires substantial physical investment and operational changes. I could verify the project and the funding decision, but did not verify that the centre has opened or how much capacity remains constrained in October 2026.
This is a stronger basis for discussing its needs than assuming it has a current driver shortage or frequent delivery failures.
The published wholesale service area is Aichi, Gifu, and Mie. 010m.co.jp
For a restaurant operator concentrated there, that focus can be valuable. For a buyer needing one supplier across Japan, delivery coverage would need separate verification.
My interpretation: extending this service model into another region requires more than adding customers to an order system. It also requires suitable delivery routes, staff, local relationships, and receiving arrangements. The strength is therefore less automatically transferable than a purely digital service.
The 鮨と酒 悠久 interview contains a revealing example. At its first Kurokawa opening, a Maruto representative recommended one 7-litre beer keg, based on seating and expectations for a sushi restaurant. Actual demand exceeded that estimate, and both parties acknowledge the incident. 010m.co.jp
The appropriate conclusion is limited: an experienced supplier can still misjudge demand for a new establishment or format. One recalled incident does not establish a company-wide forecasting problem.
For a supplier evaluating Maruto, it also suggests that initial assortment and volume decisions should be tested against actual consumption and adjusted quickly.
Re:Nitro’s owner reports higher customer numbers and sales after adopting Maruto’s Google Maps marketing support. However, he also says the restaurant had already been growing year over year after opening during the pandemic. The interview does not isolate how much additional growth resulted from the service. 010m.co.jp
This is an evidence limitation, not proof of ineffective marketing.
The case supports three conclusions: the service was used, the owner valued it, and the business reported growth. It does not establish a controlled estimate of incremental revenue or profit. I would therefore avoid converting the interview into a precise percentage improvement or a general performance guarantee.
Kakuyasu’s official service materials also describe year-round deliveries using its own distribution arrangements. This provides an industry comparison, although it does not establish identical services or direct competition at every Maruto location. なんでも酒やカクヤス
Maruto’s customer testimony is instructive here: pigment’s owner says that without 365-day delivery, he would compare Maruto with other suppliers. 010m.co.jp
My assessment: Maruto’s defensibility depends on consistently delivering the full combination of service, local knowledge, product suitability, and trusted relationships. The phrase “365-day delivery” alone is insufficient evidence of an exclusive advantage.
I found no substantiated basis in the reviewed sources for claiming current financial distress, weak operating margins, widespread customer churn, poor delivery reliability, or a lack of software expertise.
Those are unknowns, rather than weaknesses that can responsibly be assigned to the company.
The useful distinction is between documented reliance on another party and an unresolved problem they are working to address. An external partnership demonstrates the chosen operating approach; it does not establish permanent inability to develop a capability internally.
This is the strongest documented outside-help need I found.
In its own 23 March 2026 announcement, Insightlead identifies difficulty designing key performance indicators (KPIs). Actions such as staff encouragement, service adjustments, and preparation decisions were not sufficiently recorded or linked to sales outcomes. That made it difficult to identify which actions worked and set useful operational targets. 株式会社インサイトリードのプレスリリース
The practical problem is understandable: a restaurant can see that sales rose without knowing whether the cause was a staffing change, a new menu, better service, an event nearby, or several factors together.
Insightlead sought a partner and began development with VELDT, using its xCausal platform. VELDT’s announcement explicitly says Insightlead was looking for capabilities in causal-inference AI and natural language processing (NLP). News
The proposed system combines:
The intended output is a recommendation with an explanation of the expected effect. 株式会社インサイトリードのプレスリリース
Current evidence boundary: the announcements concern development and planned validation. VELDT describes a target of 2,000 stores by 2032. That is a future target, not the current installation count, and I did not find a later verified rollout or measured commercial result. News
What this means for another technology provider: there is demonstrated demand, but also an existing partner. A further opportunity would need to be specific, such as a demonstrably better method of capturing operational events, connecting systems, or validating recommendations. The public evidence does not identify which of those components remains available for another supplier.
Maruto’s MY products already rely on cooperation with producers and manufacturers. Product development is therefore a collaborative activity within its current business model. 010m.co.jp
Its logistics plan goes further: it describes connecting other suppliers through a distribution hub and expanding fresh-food handling, including fresh fish and vegetables. The plan identifies difficulties faced by low-volume restaurants when specialist suppliers reduce delivery frequency or raise delivery charges. seichotoushi-hojo.jp
The complementary roles are clear:
| Maruto contributes | Other suppliers contribute |
|---|---|
| Restaurant access and demand knowledge | Production capacity and specialist products |
| Consolidated delivery | Upstream availability and replenishment |
| Menu and merchandising support | Processing methods, recipes, and product specifications |
| Feedback from restaurant users | Changes to portions, packaging, quality, or preparation requirements |
My interpretation: a food manufacturer may have an opportunity by solving a specific restaurant operating problem that Maruto can distribute at scale.
However, the evidence does not establish that Maruto lacks a particular cuisine, country of origin, flavour, or product category. That would require examining its assortment and speaking with the relevant buyer.
The supplier can deliver appropriate inputs and teach procedures, but the restaurant controls much of the final execution.
Maruto’s beer programme explicitly requires restaurant-side cleaning, storage, gas-pressure adjustment, and pouring practices. The Yukyu owner likewise notes that poor handling would degrade the quality of freshly delivered beer. 010m.co.jp
This creates a practical boundary:
My interpretation: support that is easy for ordinary restaurant staff to execute repeatedly can be valuable. Examples could include simpler preparation formats, clearer operating instructions, or useful feedback on actual practice. These are possible complements, rather than verified gaps in Maruto’s current offer.
Its opening-support service explicitly involves outside organisations:
| Issue | Maruto’s documented role | What depends on another party |
|---|---|---|
| Finding premises | Uses networks of local property companies and advises on suitability. | Property availability and the owner’s leasing decision |
| Obtaining finance | Helps estimate funding needs, prepare documents, and introduces bank or public-lending options. | Lending approval and financing terms |
| Building or fitting out the restaurant | Advises on layouts and coordinates with partner contractors. | Construction execution, costs, and scheduling |
| Choosing kitchen equipment | Introduces suppliers and supports selection. | Equipment supply, installation, and specialist servicing |
These dependencies are directly described in its opening-support materials. 010m.co.jp
Its value here is coordination, local knowledge, and continuity. These services make it easier for an owner to navigate several suppliers, while the underlying decisions and work still involve those other parties.
The most credible approach is to demonstrate a specific improvement to an operating result they already care about. The evidence points toward restaurant productivity, dependable supply, usable products, and better decisions.
I would assess an opportunity along these lines:
| Your offering | Useful evidence to bring | Question to establish before proposing |
|---|---|---|
| Food or beverage product | Cost per usable serving, preparation time, shelf life after opening, waste, equipment needs, and repeat-order results | Which restaurant use case does this serve better than the products already available? |
| AI or software | Performance on representative operating data, the human checking required, integration requirements, and whether users act on the result | What remains unresolved within Insightlead’s current systems and VELDT collaboration? |
| Logistics or supplier coordination | Effects on handling time, temperature control, stock availability, or delivery productivity | Which part of the new operating model still needs a supplier or improvement? |
| Marketing or restaurant support | A credible way to measure additional visits, purchases, or profit alongside staff effort | Can the effect be distinguished from the restaurant’s existing growth trend? |
These are proposed evaluation criteria, not disclosed procurement requirements.
A particularly useful food-supplier proposition would combine a product, a workable restaurant application, and evidence of its operating economics. A useful technology proposition would identify one unresolved decision or workflow and demonstrate an improvement on real data. Both approaches fit the capabilities and limitations found in the sources without assuming that Maruto lacks basic expertise.
